Domaine des Huards

Pauline and Alexandre Gendrier are custodians in their family estate which was founded in 1846 by Pierre Gendrier.

Today they farm 42 hectares in Cour-Cheverny where their focus has been the indigenous grape variety, Romorantin. This grape produces wines that range from saline and precise, to more complex and age-worthy opulent styles, as well as showing great balance with a touch of residual sugar. It is only this grape that is permitted in the appellation of Cour-Cheverny.

Labelled under the less restrictive Cheverny AOC, the family produces Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Their estate entirely sits on limestone bedrock with topsoils that are a blend of clay, crushed limestone, sand and flint, which is clearly evident in their wines. Core to their beliefs in producing wines that truly express their terroir, they began biodynamic farming for more than 25 years. In a similar vein, they have eschewed any use of oak so as to retain the purest expression in their wines.
